All well and good but maybe making the checkpoints Jump holes or non "inhabited" planets would be better ... would be a little unfair if the checkpoint started killing some players and not others.

True about that, maybe instead of Planet New London- NL-Cam JG and instead of Plan. Cam it can be Cam-O5 JH.

I do have an event idea.
This does not require any fighting, it might only require a shield and a decent ship to get there.
The idea is simple: in many bars, there are people that have "rumors" wich anyone could read, and many bars allso have a "newspaper" with some story info.
An admin would post a question like: why doesnt samura attack corsairs? and its up to the people to go to a samura base or system ( not beeing telled where exactly) to gather that intelligence. The first who enters that system, gathers the intelligence, and gets back to the admin with the awnser, wins the price.
offcourse, the admin would have to know where the intelligence has to be gathered, and what the awnser is. There lcould be people who allready know the awnser.
option 1: Player knows the awnser, but didnt travel to that system: NO GAIN. option 2: Player did travel to that system, but gives wrong intelligence: NO GAIN. option 3: Player did travel to the system and brings back the right intelligence: Winner.
There are LOADS of options here, reading the news, reading the rumors, and offcourse just looking at the faction details. Loads of bases, loads of info. Offcourse this could be widely expanded.
In wich system did Kruger had a base that got destroyed by Rheinland Military and in wich sector? how did Corsairs end up in Omicron Gamma? Why are there no junkers in Kusari space?
Etc, etc, etc...... it can be made as easy and hard as possible.

Here's my idea as well, the untitled event has a long description because it comes in two versions, sorry about that...
First version:
To participate you have to make a team of 3 members,2 fighters without civil cloak and one new LSF character. The LSF character goes to Ommicron Theta trough Rheinland while the others go trough Bretonia to Ommicron systems and to Unknown system from there. These two kill nomads while the LSF character buys a VHF ( the referee gives him the credits) , when he buys it he joins the others in Unknown so that they can give him the nomad guns and then he mounts them. When a player mounts 4 nomad guns he goes to New York system trough Deathmatch. The first team to accomplish it wins, the reward is the fully equipped character plus cash prize that depends on the team ranking. Considering that you spend most of the time fighting the nomads for guns, the PvP (g/o) should be allowed, otherwise it would be easy to collect 4 guns. The prize could have bonus for the number of PvP kills.
Second version:
The other version I had in mind is simmilar but it might be more difficult for accomplish So the team is the same but this time the LSF character goes to Tokara trough DM, alone. When in Tokara he goes to WarBird base where a referee gives him the money to buy a VHF. During that time the other team members look for CODENAME weapons or kill nomads for their guns or other NPCs. Guns that they collect can be given to LSF character only if a referee is close so that no one can cheat, docking would be allowed only if a referee is close too so that no one can buy guns. The LSF character mounts the guns that teammates bring him and sells the rest of the loot only if that loot isn't ammo ( only weapons that the NPCs drop are ammo and guns ) . The team that manages to be the first to equip the LSF character waits for the other teams to complete the same task. The winner is the team which has equipped the LSF character with the best weaponry, if two teams have equipped the LSF character in the same way then the value of ammo decides the winner, and if that value is the same then the winner is declared by the money he got from selling the rest of the loot. The prize is again the fully equipped LSF character and a cash prize wich depends on the team ranking.
Considering that this one is a bit different than the one above PvP wouldn't be allowed because there would be only few bases where you could transfer the equipment so someone could wait near such bases to steal the loot. And everyone could easily participate in this event as LSF character considering that there wouldn't be the need for that character to accompany the other team members, he could wait where it's safe
In the second version the cash prize could depend on the weapon configuration ( I don't mean based on the value of the guns but on the difficulty of obtaining them ) , that way the winner would be declared only by the value of ammo or on the value of cash on the character.
So that's it folks The second version could last a bit too long but that was the first idea, Cveki helped and i made the first version. I like them both and I hope that you would too.
