would anyone be interested in a sort of player tracker plugin,it would be able to track a player as set in an cxml (by their playername) and as they jump around, buy things, log in, log out ect it would lofg it for you to view in a custom log file, this can either be viewed ingame using a /iewtracker command or out of game on the server directly by viewing the log.
it would look something like this
29/07/2008 17:28:53 TRACKER -- BullDogg Jumped to New York 29/07/2008 17:29:14 TRACKER -- BullDogg Jumped to Colorado
this would be useful in events maybe, if you need to catch a player who is a pirate say, he would be seen on planets and bases and these planets/bases would report him as seen. then an admin or player depening on how it would be used can view the log and try and catch him. you can know what system a player is in but you dont know if there docked at a base or have docked at a base.
what do you think? worth doing? its nearly finished anyway but before i do finish it i just wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in using it?

ok so far i have added 3 commands for this plugin
/trackerview - views the tracker log of a player /trackerio - enables/disables the tracker (if disabled you cant view the tracker log) /trackerset - sets the target for the tracker
im going to add an extra setting to the config to wipe the tracker log every so many hours, so you guys can set it to say clean the log every 24 hours or so depending on how you use it. ive mainly made this for events ect
im wanting to change it so it works under one command, so it would be
/tracker view|enable|disable|set
it also currently just supports jumping systems but im going to add kills, deaths, docking and maybe trading and you can choose which ones you want to log for the player

Not sure if this is possible, but..could you have FLAC log all these events to a .txt file?
i'm quite nifty when it comes to IRC coding, and would be interested in writing a Freelancer Bot for channels, as well as an IRC network for all of our freelancer communities.
Let me know you're thoughts? You have me on MSN BD.

it logs it all into a txt file yea, if you can write the code to send ti to irc i can include it in my plugin and have flac push it to an IRC channel as it happens
ill catch you on msn when i see you on

Why not allow that functionality to be plugged into your plug in? You could provide one which logs to text file and then others could be created to output to other media such as IRC, xml data stream etc.

im up for that im going to stick the initial download up after the weekend, been meaning to do it for a while, seems to work fine right now for me, id like a way to track multiple players though, thought about having it record all entries into a mysql database and then data can be filtered via the database.

I'll check to see if we installed your plugin server side, and begin tracking one of the players. What is the name of the .txt file that logs this?
