Concerning the Repair Turret

I was recently looking at the repair turret, and I noticed something a little unusual... it's one of the few "special weapons" that doesn't have degrees.

Now, we can all tell that I'm just poor and looking for an excuse, but I have an idea that involves this particular weapon.

The Repair Turret is currently 203 mil, and heals 40 Hull per shot.

I move that there be a discussion as to whether or not 3 different degrees of Repair Turret should be created.

The turrets would go as such:

Repair Turret MkI : 40 Hull/shot : 75mil
Repair Turret MkII: 90 Hull/shot: 200mil
Repair Turret MkIII: 150 Hull/shot : 500mil

Now, granted, this would require some looping of both prices and positioning. The current Repair Turret is only purchasable in the Omicron Epsilon System.

I move that the following be enacted should this go further:

-The Repair Turret MkI be sold at Eagle's Nest and $wat Command in Epsilon as they always have.

-The Repair Turret MkII be sold in one of the custom systems (though not in Epsilon). Kwangju is a likely place it could be put at.

-The Repair Turret MkIII be sold in Utopia. Reserved for EFS members or Admins.

I think this would be fair, as it would allow the purchase of such items for large-scale events more feasible, and yet would still allow for Admins and EFS members to retain the equipment to a certain extent.

This is open for discussion (and if this sounds like a bad idea, please let me know).

As for options... I voted No, we just have one atm and not many ppl using it yet so there'd be little point introducing others untill we know more about what we have. Price is admittedly high which we can probably lower, its kept artificially high as its alot easier for us to lower than the other way around and more so as we have to considder the effect of those getting repaired not getting a repair bill anymore.

Alright, so if not multiple degrees, possibly just a price lower? I'm understanding how this does take quite a bit of stuff to fix, and I thank everyone for talking about this.

Thank you Cheetah and Eagle for your direct responses. I was hoping for a price lower, but I didn't want to just outright say that, so I presented this idea to be bounced around with it.

Maybe someone has a better idea? One thing I could imagine is that the repair turret deducts credits from the repairer when used. That way repair bills can't be avoided and the turret itself can be made cheaper. And before anyone asks why not deduct it from the repair target immediatelly, well because it could then be used to drain credits from your opponent in for instance pvp... that ofcourse is unacceptable so the only logical choice would be to deduct from the one using the repair turret who is then able to bill his repair targets

Cveki is right on this one, we are yet to see the effects of using a repair gun in battle. Until then, this discussion is truly unnecessary.


And StarYoshi, if you can't afford that gun, maybe you should simply ask for a little help getting the necessary money .
