Well as i sad , have few remarks about the way BS's are used . First of all , IMHO ... while in fight , instead of dieing going to dock your eagle in BS is same as diving to planet / docking on to base ... Or we can just say lame - no matter who does it Probably some of you dont wonna see again this type of treads lame /not lame , but BS's are fresh here and we "need" to make some "rules" of engagement ..well it would be nice actually to avoid all possible misunderstandings

i don't know but i think that the relation of planets and BS is different coz planets cant be destroyed.
For me if i am shooting a player and he docks on bs then he is just smart. if he docks i have no one to shoot at but he left his bs unprotected. The BS could be shot down since they have no protection under their belly.
Anyone who runs away, docks or changes characters from any station where he is docked is not lame. He is just smart and doesn't want to fight. IMO only, why should we force a player to fight when he doesn't want to fight?
If a player asks me to stop shooting at him and if i am not at war with his clan, i will stop shooting. I gain nothing by shooting a player who doesn't want to fight. Sure i can chase him but he can also run and hid. So, personally, he can dock or stay away of fights if he wants to coz we all fight willingly and unconditionally.
This is just my perspective and in no wise i intend to contradict the remarks of this thread.
Cheers!

There's a distinct difference between the 2, suiciding (planet dive) actually respawns the entire ship to the state it was in prior to launch. Docking however will not magically repair damaged components for free, nor will it replace anything shot off so in that respect I doubt that docking would always be a viable option of evading death by opponent.
At the root of this I think is the matter of wether or not a death cost is charged for if the fight would have been allowed to continue... the end result would be just that. It might be worth considdering charging those suiciding or docking while engaged in pvp anyway which should be enough of an incentive to the attacker having lost his target and enough of a threshold to the one trying to avoid death in this manner. Docking would just be more expensive than it allready was so to those using this as a tactic this shouldn't be a problem. Infact, nothing would change as far as options go for anyone involved in battle, there'd just be an additional credit transfer in case of suiide/dock during pvp flowing from escapee to attacker. Question is, would such a solution settle the argument of related actions being lame or not?
