(sorry for posting my other Idea in the wrong Place )
Virtual Item Storage
This idea is to replace the need for “vault ships” which cause so many headaches in many mods. Weather you have specific ships or not players love to horde stuff. This creates stability issues, and other headaches like players hunting storage ships and where to put them. It also takes up a character slot, which sometimes, result in people making multiple accounts for the sole purpose of storage. It also requires in some cases, safety areas to be created on many servers and it’s just an over all real PITA to deal with.
So here is the basic idea.
A player command such as /store item or /vault item or /stash item or something will require a nickname (usually the display name from the idsname dll entry) to be entered such as:
/stash item Vengeance MkII
What FLAC will do is check to ensure that item is un-mounted and on the players ship, cross-referencing the appropriate ini entries and such. Then it will log that nickname somewhere much the same as it does the bank probably does and delete the item from the player’s inventory.
Using a command like
/stash list could work just like the player list does giving a number to each stashed item to make retrieval possible (Bulldogs idea)
For retrieval a simple /stash get# 4(or whatever number) would make things very easy. What would happen is that FLAC would check the nickname and generate the appropriate item and place it back on the characters ship.
Edited: Forgot to mention restrictions to avoid exploits.
1. Make sure player is docks to prevent farming. This way the player still has the chance to loose whatever it is he/she got until it's transported to a base.
2. Restrict any Commodities found in the market_commodites.ini
This way special collectible commodities can be stored, but it can't be exploited by traders not wanting to loose their goods.
