I, and a few others have noticed recently that the servers lag level seems to have increased quite significantly. NPC's will fly 300k or so away then kill you, Docking/undocking takes far longer than normal and red/yellow computers are constantly flashing up every so often. Nos restarted the server today but for me at least, it's had no effect.
Does anyone know why this is? Is the server becoming unstable?
Not a big issue I know but still I thought i'd ask seen as it's become very noticeable within the past few days.

Ok second try at this, i tried posting this a second ago and my internet is so bad atm that it actually logged me out when i tried posting :S but as i was trying to say. I do not think that it is a server problem rather the internet itself, for the past couple of weeks myself and pretty much everyone i know have been experiencing extreme slowness in everyday usage, such as it took me 5 minutes to load this page and then wouldnt post :S It's affected people in america, but this is only a theory anyways i cant actually say whats going on since i have no idea, so that is the only explanation i can give, but in the mean time you'll just have to live with it, nothing we can do xD even if we did restart the server there would be minimal difference, im going to google this now to find out whats going on but atm the servers acting like it did when i first started playing so enjoy it xD

I am not an expert, but I tend to agree with both. The problem MIGHT be the physical server, or the connection of the physical server to the internet. I think Des may well be right though, just typing this reply is showing lag like symptoms, and the forum is not on the physical server.
So, my advise? "Patience Grasshopper."
If the problem is the server, I am sure Eagle will find and correct the fault. If the problem is the internet, it also will be corrected.

I had some big lags the last days too. No problem with the internet (homepages, posting, ...) just a lot of yellow and red when i play freelancer. Any other internet stuff like downloading (legal) files has the same speed as allways.

I have no problems with the internet at all just the server. And to be honest the argument tht the whole internet is the problem is kinda rediculous cose thats not rly possible. It is possible that the line between america and europe is messed up because there is only 1 line. but between european people there is thousands of lines and i doubt there all broken. This kinda lag is most likely to occur by running 2 servers on the same machine or by the machine running the server using up memory on other programs. This could be the result of a virus but i doubt it since eagle knows wt hes doing and i doubt aswell that hes using the server for other things so i say the server (physically) needs a reboot.

Reading all that tells me that you're probably right. Seen as the server's connection is spread across from America to Europe, that's probably part of the slow down. Could be many things but living with it is the only thing we can do. Question answered, cheers guys

Ouch, I just checked the pings on the "Online now" area and they're all coming up red (sorry, won't be on today)
I hope it isn't like this on the event on Sunday, that will be a pain :S

Hmm i will go on the server in a bit and see how it goes, syntax the server automatically restarts itself once a day ( maybe twice but im pretty sure its once ) so far as im aware no admins can do anything about a restart, except eagle, but it shouldnt really need one, if the connections bad for me tonight ( since my internets are back properly again xD ) and sylvio has a bad ping as well ( i live in england and sylv is also relativley close to the netherlands ) it may well even be a hardware issue, but couldnt say for sure without eagle

Hello,
if you want to know where the problem is try a traceroute to the server to see all station you have to pass on your way to the server:
1. Press "Start" 2. Chooce "Execute" 3. Insert "cmd" 4. Insert "tracert 82.95.219.254" (all without "")
You will see a list with all hops (stations) you have to pass to connect to the server and take a look at the response time with the highest ping (shown in ms).
There is the problem....
