I'm proud to announce that our server now offers automated bounty hunts, you can read all about it online using the /bountyrules command (type to console). All other commands shown with /help are also fully operational!
Note: In order to type to console, use cursor up/down keys during chat!
Known issues: * idle kicks no longer work properly and have been switched off untill it can be fixed. * group invites are actively refused, I'm looking into this right now and will have a fix out asap.
If you find other bugs, please post here and I'll look into it when able.
Have fun! ;D

after I read this I got online and there was already a hunt going nice thing, but I think the reward cut be increased a bit.. seeing that for 21+ users online it will be 5 mill and remembering the hunts going on before were like 5-25 mill unless really necessary, bounty hunters might think of it too low for an effort

The price may seem low atm, but we are making sure every aspect of it is perfect before allowing the prizes to get higher, in case of problems causing people to lose lost of cash for example. Give it time grasshopper

Group invite bug has been fixed, idle kicks should be as well but will remain inactive untill I have a chance to test this properly. Another bug was reported concerning bounty payouts... sometimes these would not register if the target would respawn immediatelly after dying. This should now be fixed and rewards paid in full. If there's any other issues, plz report them asap

It's a cool feature, Slingshot and myself put it through its runs it earlier today. Unfortunately, not alot of player know that you can do this, is it possible to have an auto-message telling players how to start a hunt?

concern i have is people taking advantage of it.
Say one person bounty, other person kills, then the repeat... and repeatt, with a profit of X every time...
Maybe put a time limit... a SINGLE person (not server) cant do bounty hunt until after 15 or so min of doing one (30 ia too much)

Doesn't the person getting hunted have to pay up him-/her- self though? I thought that's what happened.

I think the co-ordinates given for the target could be a wee bit more simplified. target co-ordinates at -95674,85637 does seem a little bit on the vague side. Any chance this could be changed to a grid reference instead? IE:-target at grid reference F4,,,kinda like they do when you take a mission.

What if the target is out of the grid?

If he moves then the console updates his movements(every minute i think)so you can see where hes going. It would be simpler to see your targets grid reference instead of an abscure number.

Yeah, that's sure easier, but there are two coordinates in the game, y-axis and x-axis, the third one is missing. What would happen, if the target was flying, let's say, 50 K above the map level, behind the map grid borders?

Hint:
use the /loc command!
this gives you your own present coordinates which should help in working out where the target is... grid reference is not possible at present due to differences in system sizes, would need a translation for each system that way and this would not help you find someone who decides to leave the 2-D area mapped out either.
Coordinates given are are relative to the center of the map, and in miles just like any other distance shown in game (1K = 1000 miles obviously ;D)
What I can do is show relative distance to target like for instance: north: 11000 east: 200 up: 2000
meaning you have to travel to 11K north etc. etc. Could be put under the /loc command as bounty hunts are the reason these were put in... is that usefull?
--------8<--------8<--------8<--------
I'll add a console message telling ppl about the bounty hunts & help screen... should be sufficient to inform players. I'll also add something to limit the bounty's someone can start to 1 per hour, this way it's still open to abuse but should at least give those who use it as intended an exiting new dimention to freelancer.
Payment is as described in the help pages, 1 million is deducted at the start of a hunt from the initiator... more can be paid back when he/she manages to escape. Payment to killer ranges from 1 to 3 million at present, depending on number of players online, this is not charged to the hunted, but limited to just the 1 mill he/she paid at the start.

would it be possible to add a way for the hunted to say how much they're betting how it used ot be? (like 1-10 mil)...the command could be something like
/bounty hunt1 /bounty hunt2
etc (unless numerals aren't allowed)
and also maybe a notification of the route to take in game when the command is given...this would be hard but maybe even something like (you're in NL) and the console says "go to leeds" on whisper...once ur there it tells you where to go next...

Thanks Eagle,to be honest I didn`t know what the numbers meant(I thought it might be a bug lol).Even though the bounty feature is still early in development it really is a good feature

betting something other than 1 million is certainly something we want to make flexible, it's currently fixed in order to see how things work and to prevent possible abuse. When the time is right we'll come with some sort of proposal on increased bets/profits.
Fixed route to follow: Very nice idea, would require additional thought on what the boundaries are... when ordered to Leeds for instance, will you fail to escape if you stay in NL? Will you fail if you jump to Leeds in the last minute of the hunt? In short... will you fail if you linger in a system, and how exactly should this be defined etc. etc. Its all quite complex, not just to define, but also to implement once boundaries are clear. Suggestions on this welcome.
