Thx Eagle, was just wondering as i wanted to update a banner and suddenly realised i didn't have any lol
On a side note, i still can't see why they were removed, was perfectly fine imho but that's just me. Only issue i see is now that people who don't understand how to do the above, which is most of us tbh, won't be able to put banners in game anymore which seems silly

That may well be the case but i think you're missing the point. What happened to user friendliness? I mean why not leave as it was so people can still use the old method and offer the banner modification as an addon in its current format? That way you would keep everyone happy.
Now i have to download this and modify that, drives me mad. With something like the dynamic economy addon it's acceptable as quite a few things need to be done to get that working, but now i have to do a lot more just to be able to add what i could do originally in a nice simple graphic interface.

Note that this change was announced quite a while ago and support for the old banners had been extended so everyone had ample time to migrate. The old banner functionality was simply inadequate though and the user interface rather messy. Its configuration storage was even worse which made transfering banners to another server cumbersome. Plenty of reasons to discontinue this feat imo. As a service I do offer a working alternative, in the form of this here plug-in. Next to that the full source code is available as well as complete documentation if anyone else wants to build their own banner solution. Future expantion might even allow for plug ins that have their own user interface in FLAC. Any other FLAC functionality you desire you could request on this public section as well, hopefully we'll start seeing more plug ins being developed as there's alot that can be customized. You can see a limited demo using the example plug in which adds commands, new chat options and new in game notifications and those are just simple feats... more complex functionality could be added through plug ins, and there is at least one other developer besides me actively creating plug ins. Perhaps with more specific demands, more will jump in

Reviving dead topic. I'm not a programmer. At least not for many many years...
Is there a simple way to add an option for the admin to type a play command?
Such as /banners play #1
so one could be played on command?

Banners plugin inexplicably stopped working recently. Reinstalling it isn't working. Anyone else?

Has anything changed? Paths etc? Did you have a crash?
Being xml, if you or another admin typed something wrong while adding a new banner, it would freak. Look to see if there are invalid characters or a < got deleted etc.

Yeah, I dug a little deeper and found that the banners.xml file had been edited manually and incorrectly. The guilty parties will be disciplined.
