We are also having problems with the new Vista OS. It seems MS changed DirectPlay in the DirectX for Vista. Networking and several other tabs are gone from the dxdiag.exe screens. Looks like MS totally changed the way DirectX does network game play. If we find a solution or more info I'll post it here for you as well.

More news on the Vista problem.... DirectX10 is the problem as MS changed the way DirectPlay is supported in it. Officially they stopped support for DirectPlay in version 8 but continued with updates in version 9. Version 10 uses a different approach called DirectInput or something like that while DirectPlay in version 9 used DirectNAT. Here are some links I found on MS' DirectX website and they show a way to get DirectX9.0c to work in Vista since most Video cards do not support Direct3D in version 10 right now. Check this link out and let me know if it helped. support.microsoft.com/kb/819836They tell you download DirectX9.0c and the latest updates to version 9. The latest update is dated 2/2/2007 and is found here... www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=2Looks like MS realized they SCREWED UP!!!!! since the new DirectX10 is not supported by the majority of video cards installed on the new PC's with Vista.... Anyway, if you have Vista installed, try installing DirectX9 and the updates and doing the reg fix. If it works please reply here. Zeus

Many thanks for the info there, Zeus, Hopefully it should help our players, who use Vista, solve the problems they are having. No doubt they will soon let us know if this is the case.

okay i have vista and can connect to the server i host fine. inable to do this i disabled UAC. right click start button and then click properties. select classic view. click start then in the run window run msconfig. under the tools tab, double click disable UAC. then restart windows. install freelancer, flmm, whatever mod you use, then activate and enjoy.
