Erm, nothing really. The installation went fine, I opened the installer with the "wine" option. Problem is, I downloaded the mod and can't get it into the manager. Normally it has the manager as the default program for zip.flmm files. But on Linux it's not that way. I also can't find it in the "open with other application" option.
So, if there is an option to add them manually, I haven't found it yet ;D

Before you activate the mod let me know that you have got this far m8

Done Could have thought of that Its all easy when you know how m8 lol ok .. activate the mod as you would normally .. you should get an error, I do and have yet to fix this BUT .. don't worry the error should read something like unable to create resources.dll .. click ok, and then you will get a little box saying success .. click ok again. I am not sure what this error is as a resources.dll is created. Now before you run freelancer again with the mod activated you need to go to Applications > Wine > Browse C:\ Drive Then navigate to Program Files \Microsoft Games\ The right click on the Freelancer folder. Select Properties Select Permissions Set the File access for both Owner and group to read and write Click Apply permissions to Enclosed files Then close. Then run FL .. if all goes well you should be logging into EU with the mod active. However .. you will lose some names, info and IDS values .. am not sure why yet, that's still a work in progress, I had to ask Sonya what system she was in the other day as it was just displayed as question marks. But you will have the mod running. Test this out and let me know how you get on, then we can start setting it up a little better with the visuals and sound for your system m8

FL won't start now...
Is there something like a task-manager on Linux? Because It could be that I started it twice and somehow it's stuck now....

Nothing really as effective just log out and log back in. *Also check under wine > browse C:\ Drive >Program Files >Microsoft Games> Freelancer>EXE> that all the files are open that non have little padlocks on them .. if they do repeat the permission steps

El's problem is sorted it was permissions, when deactivating and reactiviating the mod you have to redo the permissions to ensure no files in the Freelancer dir are locked. Maybe setting the permissions on the Mod folder itself will resolve having to do this everytime. Will check later as it is just a thought. Next up El is to get your sound working better, you may not have the music volume up as standard but FL will still try and proccess the mp3 files, this may help reduce lag to. Wines built in mp3 codec just does not work too well with FL's mp3's.

Ok .. we need to "steal" a codec to work around this, I have tried several but the one that worked best was l3codecp.acm
First you need to get one .. I know you have an XP install on your home system so look in C:\Windows|System32\ for it.
l3codecp.acm ...
You then need to transfer a copy of this file to your linux install. Copy it to your desktop for ease of use.
Next rename it to winemp3.acm (use the same case, remember linux is very case sensitive).
Now goto Applications > Wine > Browse C:\ Drive
Then Navigate to Windows\System32\
Drag and drop the file, winemp3.acm into the system32 directory.
Now goto Applications > Wine > configure wine
Click the Applications tab
Select Freelancer.exe so it is highlighted
Select the libraries tab
Note the window is empty for this app.
now in the box type winemp3.acm
click add
then click edit
select native
Apply and quit configure wine.
If all has gone well when you run FL and turn up your music volume its should now be working.
