Just one thing I'd like to add/point out. It IS possible to PvP near bases, dispite the BKZ's. This however is only possible if the fight started outside of the BKZ and is moved nearer to the base. Player damage will only be active between the fighting players, anyone else in the BKZ can't be harmed or inflict damage again to uphold the safety for players trying to dock/undock/hover just outside the base. This mechanism also prevents a players from being able to duck for cover once he has been fired upon in open space, keeping things fair for everyone.

Hi,
I dont see a reason to disable the "safe zones" around bases.
This safe zones were reinstalled after the original "base kill rule" was unfortunatelly lifted and some "special players" started to kill and to baserape other players "because it was possible and therefore allowed".
I dont know how long and often I had to deal with complains regarding this incidents in the past and I think it was one of the best decisions in the last years to reinstall the safe zones again.
Regarding the "tough NPCs":
Welcome to Eagle Utopia, I think they are not tough enough :-)

Concerning the Basekill stuff, everyone above me has already said what went down with that. Way back when, when the killzone was removed, we had a lot of baserape going on that made the game frustrating.
This, I believe, also happend around the time that a bounty system was in the game.
Anyway, tl;dr, but trust me that the game is a better place with the killzone up. And as it was said, you can fight outside the basekill zone and then go into it and continue the fight. I'm just saying, watch where you fire near stations c:
Secondly, concerning the NPCs, I almost agree with Jorg on saying that they aren't tough enough. Most of the missions I fly in, although I do go white-knuckle in regions like Carpathia and the Omicrons, are still "doable." The major reason a lot of the harder missions were added was to A) increase the amount of skill necessary to complete them and B) to encourage clan battling on the REALLY tough missions where having 2 or 3 ships can mean all the difference.
Granted, I have been dabbling in system creation slightly (in the absence of Eagle and anyone who really has a TON of know-how on the subject), and I do understand what you're saying. In a LOT of places, it requires a LOT of skill to get through regions of space without dying. A system I've thought of designing would remedy this problem in that it's a "middleground battlezone." Rather than put you up against the Hawks, Falcons and Eagles with nomad weapons, the missions and fighters in these systems would be more of the Stilletos and Sabres and Titans than anything else. They wouldn't be nearly as powerful there as in Carpathia, but without a general know-how of how to get through space, you can't survive there. Kinda like flying through New York if you're a pirate. It's challenging, but not so much so that missions are impossible alone and trading/travel/exploration is a chore.
Systems should be fun and enjoyable, not absolute hell-holes all the time. Nos and Eagle made a fair many hell-holes in EU (see Carpathia, Utopia, Dyson Sphere, etc.), and I think that future systems should take into account the fact that having the DM Mod shouldn't mean you HAVE to be a great pilot to enjoy new content.
So yeah, assuming I get a lot of free time this summer, stay tuned c:

Lol, good point.
I wasn't saying that the systems AREN'T enjoyable, I'm just saying it's a turnoff to the server where almost every system except Liberty and Bretonia is flooded with ships so powerful that new players can't fight back.
To make that worse, players that can't fight well try downloading DM, only to find MORE systems with TOUGHER fighters that make their experiences a lot more difficult.
I'm just saying that new systems shouldn't limit the combat capacity of players, while still promoting an environment for growth and training.

I am not sure I follow Yoshi m8, are you suggesting that the systems like Carpathia, Omega 31, Omnicron Eps and Kwangju be made easier ? if not then the "problem" of "downloading DM, only to find MORE systems with TOUGHER fighters that make their experiences a lot more difficult" is going to remain regardless. The idea in Genral to is to aquire the skill needed to atempt these systems, which can be obtained along the way. No need for "middle ground" systems as you move out from NY the systems along the way serve this very purpose as one moves out to the Borderwolrds. The few times the complaints have been raised regarding NPC "strength" has been a result of those making them finding it too hard to complete level 40 missions against BH's in Gamma or Alpha, they want the big pay out for the Job but want that job to be made easier ..

I cannot see what would be gained from making it easier tbh, the npcs are perfect, they offer a nice refreshing challenge that no other server can. I like being able to go in to gamma or Tokara and being blown up because im not on the ball that day, it just shows i still need to train myself lol. People complain about the steep learning curve, but i am yet to see anyone who hasnt been able to handle it within time

Hi,
Kwangju with the tough NPCs for example was not created to annoy or to frustrate the players of Eagle Utopia.
It was created that way to motivate the players to team up and to enjoy the missions together.

It was created that way to motivate the players to team up and to enjoy the missions together. Actually, my friend, Kwangjy was created by eagle flying NPCs that were trying to hide from you! They realized that after killing over 20k sabres, 20k titans and 20k hammers, its their turn, so they went into hiding! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Oh and btw, for you, newer players, thats Jorg, one of the greatest, if not THE GREATEST genocider of eagle utopia server. He killed total of over 85.000 highest lvl npc ships (eagles, sabres, titans, nomad fighers). So dont you go saying that EU npcs are overpowered. X

Conclusion from X's post : Jorg is overpowered About NPC's : I love them . They give me the challenge I need . My husband is my witness of many many spent nights arguing , . breaking my keyboard cause of them .... There is a lot of safe places in universe where you can train and do missions that suite your level . Here you can find : low , medium and hard level . Problem is that everyone that comes on server ( and I think not just on this one ) wants to have everything now , that moment . I know that I wish that when I visit other servers .. cant do anymore those " fly to know the system & server & peeps there " ... And that here isnt possible , but , as I said , when you go from here else where - you are the king there . Why ?? Because they have missions for almost 1 mil $$ and the npc's are ... well lets just say funny ,like the one you have here for 50.000 - 100.000 $$ ( MAYBE ) ; lot of shortcuts that make trading lovable ... And thats cool ... make things easy a lot ... but EU is not that kind of place . No easy cash , trading , missions ... For everything you have to work hard . SO .... ... And I'm part of it

Indeed, this is one reason to choose Eagle Utopia to play at imo, but there is another one. The other (maybe more important one) reason to play at Eagle Utopia is that players dont have to fear flamings/misbehave the way admins of other servers allow to often. I for example decided to play at Eagle Utopia because of the NPC-Challenge and because of the willingness of the admins to ensure/force a friendly environment to play together. I still remember the day when I decided to make Eagle Utopia my home: In my early days I had to deal with a player named Mato13. I gave him a loan and when the time came to get it back, he tried to cheat me and trapped me (together with a friend) in a "Basekill incident", what was a really serious incident at that time. I also remember that one of the EFS members (EFS-Inkarnation) tried to solve/investigate the incident, but the facts showed me in the role of the "sinner". I expected the worst and was surprised what happened next: Eagle (server owner together with Cheetah) himself met me in game and I had a nice (my first contact with him btw) chat with him and he told me "that the admin team noticed already the behaviour of this player (Mato13)" and Eagle himself gave me my money (that I loaned Mato13) back and told me to "relax because you have nothing to fear" This was the most impressive moment in my online carreer yet and after this experience I decided that Eagle Utopia is the best server for me to play Freelancer in future. Btw: The only reason why I left the admin team and why I dont play at Eagle Utopia at the moment is because I am to busy with work at the moment. I will come back as soon as I have time to play again.
