Hey people! It's been a while, so most of you probably don't know me anymore. Anyways I was [EFS]AJ for some time, maybe a few weeks. but anyways, I just loved how the mod had improved. So I thought: why not just try EU again!? I've also bothered Eagle with my problem, but I guess he's very busy. So I'll bother you with my problem as well. I've installed the mod, I guess it works. but when I want to go online, it sees the server. and then just at the moment, when I click join server.... I get this error: āIām sorry, but a connection could not be established to that server. This is usually caused by a server going offline when you attempted to connect to it. It may also be caused by internet problems. Please try again later.ā What should I do to get in, please help Regards, AJohn

I know it is a bit of a hassle to accomplish, but if the tricks people have posted here for you do not work, you can always set up a dual boot system. Windows 2000 or XP both work just fine with Freelancer multiplayer and the mod.

In XP, Avast antivirus works great. I do not use Vista, so I can not speak to it

I found AVG 7.5 works, but 8.0 and 8.5 do not, also turned off windows firewall need to delete Norton 360 if thats what your PC came with like mine did. I cursed Vista for about 2 weeks.

On vista theres a few things you have to do to make nearly everything work just fine like in xp, first disable windows defender, secondly disable user account mangement, disable windows firewall and disable ipv6. How to:Disable windows defender:> start > control pannel > windows defender > disable then > start > type msconfig and hit enter > services and look for windows defender and disable > then start up and look for windows defender ones again and disable congratulations, you have disabled windows defender Disable user account management:> start > control pannel > user accounts > user account management enable or disable > disable congratulations, you have disabled user account management Disable windows firewall:> start > control pannel > windows firewall > disable then > start > type msconfig and hit enter > services and look for windows firewall and disable congratulations u have disabled windows firewall Disable IPv6:This one is a little trickyer but i will try to explain. > start > control pannel > network centre > click manage network connections > right click on your internet connection > properties > clear the checkbox on internet protocol version 6 > click ok then > start > regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > tcpip6 > Parameters > right click Parameters > New DWORD type > name it DisabledComponents and make sure u name it exactly that including capitals > double click DisabledComponents > type FF and hit ok Congratulations u have disabled IPv6 now restart the computer to make the changes have effect if u cnt figure it out how to disable IPv6 with this little guis then here is the link to a more complete tutorial www.mydigitallife.info/2007/09/09/disable-and-turn-off-ipv6-support-in-vista/

Avira works fine for me. I suggest getting that if you can't find any others.
