Hey peeps,
I've gotten myself into what I hope is a fixable situation....
While loading freelancer....something...happened, and I had to manually shut down my computer...I have no idea what it was, but now when I try to load it up, the Console message for the EU DM mod repeats on a new line about every 2-3 seconds...but FL doesn't load.
I would reinstall, but I can't find the darn CD anywhere, I've been looking for it for the past week and a half...
Is there any way that you guys know of to get around / fix this?
PS - I've reinstalled the mod, backed it up, but i'm pretty sure my FL install got messed up.

I believe the ini files could be replaced, if it is only them that have been corrupted, if it's anything else then you probably need a full reinstall of FL, and therefore need the CD. Of course FL is on the budget labels these days, so at least you won't be hit too hard financially.

It might be possible to use the FLMM "Restore Backups" option to recover from damage done, if you then reactivate the DM mod you might be able to fly again... otherwise I'm affraid you'll need that disk as there's no place you can get a consistent set of freelancer files. Ini's you can get are often modified to "improve performance" and "fix bugs" but they instead make your copy incompatible with MP servers

try the FL SDK, it replaces all the inis with clean ones, so you should be able to get them all from there

SDK is not "clean" it has been "cleaned up"... there's a difference. And that difference causes crashes such as the Battleship Crash.

I think it's still worth a try...Good call Bulldog.
[Tries SDK]
Gah.
I used the sdk to see if it would wok, but no go. However, a message pps up saying:
"The instruction at "0x7c91519d referenced memory at "0x0008000c". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click CANCEL to debug the program."
Any idea what it means?
No matter what I click...it repeats Looks like I'm out of luck, thanks though.

Ah-ha! got it working Finally, bit of manual tweaking with the .ini files got FL in working order. It's a bit buggy, but It works fine.
I'll be all ready to go come tomorrow (well, technically, later today.)
